Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how carolbruess.com (the "Site"), owned and operated by Carol Bruess (the "Site Owner"), collects, uses, and protects information from visitors. By using the Site, visitors agree to the practices described here.
1. Information Collected
The Site collects information only when a visitor voluntarily submits it through the contact form on the
Let's Connect page. That information consists of the visitor's name, email address, the type of request selected, and the content of the message.
The Site does not offer user accounts, logins, or direct purchases. Books are sold through third-party retailers and publisher websites, which maintain their own privacy policies.
2. Use of Information
Information submitted through the contact form is used to respond to the inquiry. Messages concerning speaking engagements, media requests, or books may be shared with the Site Owner's publicist or booking representative for the purpose of responding. Information is not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes, and visitors are not added to any mailing list without their consent.
3. Storage and Hosting
The Site is hosted by Squarespace. Contact form submissions are delivered to the Site Owner by email and retained in Squarespace's form storage, where they may be deleted at the Site Owner's discretion. Squarespace's handling of data on its platform is governed by the Squarespace Privacy Policy.
4. Cookies and Analytics
Squarespace places cookies that are necessary for the Site to function, along with cookies that support Squarespace's built-in analytics. Analytics data includes aggregate information such as the number of visits, pages viewed, and approximate geographic location. It does not identify individual visitors by name. Visitors may block or delete cookies through their browser settings without affecting their ability to use the Site.
5. Embedded Content and External Links
Certain pages embed video from YouTube or TED. Playing an embedded video may cause that service to place its own cookies, subject to its own privacy policy. The Site also contains links to Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, news outlets, and other external websites. The Site Owner is not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
6. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and the Site Owner does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Access and Deletion
Visitors may request a copy of the information the Site Owner holds about them, or request that it be deleted, by emailing cbruess@csbsju.edu. Requests will be honored within a reasonable time.
8. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
9. Contact
